The first gadget that created a revolution was and probably still is the cellular phone. The sheer convenience of carrying your telephone in your pocket and staying connected wherever you may be is just fantastic. We are so used to this facility that it has become too common. However, there used to be a time when telephones needed to be connected by cables and wires and had to remain stationary. You had to be near a phone in order to make or receive calls. People had to be cut-off while on the move. The cell phone actually works like a radio. The cellular network is provided by the mobile phone operator which allows access to public telephone ...
... network. Today a person can travel to virtually any part of the world and he assured that he will be able to use his cell phone to talk to any person on earth. This tiny hand held instrument supports a wide variety of other services like text messaging, MMS, e-mail and internet access. The latest versions have added features like infrared, Bluetooth, business applications, gaming and photography. These phones are referred to as smart phones and owning one of these is like having a mobile office in your pocket. You can set reminders for yourself, set alarms, do calculations, view calendars for several years ahead and so on. The prices of these phones have also come down compared to the earlier prices and they have become affordable to almost anyone who wishes to own one. It may surprise most of us to know that the very first cell phone was made by Motorola in 1973 and weighed an unwieldy 1 kg. Imagine lugging around a cell phone weighing a kilo today!
