Mahindra XUV has been on the news from last one year and finally the time has arrived for it to hit the auto market. With the introduction of Mahindra XUV 500 the D-segment auto market has been shaken. Mahindra XUV 500 has been code named ‘World SUV W201’. Rs650 crore has been endowed in this entire project. XUV 500 has been successfully tested with more than 250 prototypes and the company envisages selling 2000 units each month. There are three variants of Mahindra XUV 500 these are XUV500 W6 4x2-Rs11.10 lakhs, XUV500 W8 4x2-Rs12.45 lakhs and the XUV500 W8 4x4-Rs13.43 lakhs. The cost of the base model W6 has been increased by Rs30,000, the model W8 4x2 has been enhanced by Rs 50,000 and for W8 4x4 the price is further increased by Rs 55,000. The ARAI certified mileage of XUV 500 is 15.1 kmpl. XUV 500 is made available in various colors such as satin white, Tuscan red, Dolphin grey, Amazon green, volcano black, Moondust silver and Opulant purple. XUV500 is expected to be exported in different countries in South East Asia, Western Europe and also South Africa and other parts of Africa. It has six speed manual transmissions and it has both 2-wheel and 4-wheel drive facility. XUV500 will give strong competition to other similar segment like Chevrolet Captiva, Ford Endeavour, Renault Koleos and Toyota Fortuner. XUV500 possess a huge touch screen display incorporating GPS navigation system and the music system. It also features ABS, EBD, Traction Control, Hill decent control and six air bags. XUV 500 also features a Monocoque chassis.

Mahindra is also planning to introduce a twin turbo variant of XUV500 that will generate a maximum power of 170bhp and maximum torque of 400nm. As far as style and looks are concerned it exhibits a large front grille like that of a Jeep which is highlighted prominently with Mahindra’s logo in the middle. The Day-time running LED looks quite stunning with orange indicators. Clear lens projector double barrel head lights and fog lights are some other added features. XUV 500 gets its macho looks from the 17 inch alloy wheel that looks awesome.
