Playground Equipment, A Child's Perspective

It is the school Christmas holidays and I have been at home for over a week now. The weather has been very wet and windy and I have been soooo cold, but there has been no snow. I have been inside watching TV or playing computer games for ages, I am so bored. I got lots of lovely presents from Santa Claus, but I have played and played with them and I am fed up with them. It isn't easy being eight years old as I cannot go out by myself; adults say that it isn't safe.
My Mum and Dad have been really busy getting everything we need for Christmas and I have had to go with them, what a drag going round the supermarket and all we got was food, food, food. I could not believe it this morning when my Mum announced that she was going to go more shopping, this time to The Sales! I was dreading it, when my Dad announced that there was no way he was going to the busy shops to fight over dresses. He would stay at home with me; in fact we would go to the play park across the road. I could have kissed him; I could not get rid of my Mum quick enough.
The play park was kinda empty, everyone must have been inside watching ...
... DVDs, and we had it to ourselves. So Dad was able to go on the swings too, we went ever so high. I thought that he was going to go over the bar. Afterwards he gave me lots of pushes and I thought that I was going to go over the bar. It was magic!
Then we went on the see-saw and it was a great laugh, I could see that my Dad was enjoying it as well. Unfortunately he could not go on the climbing frame with the bridges and slides as he said he was too heavy for it. Still I had good fun and he watched.
He could go on the twisty slide; he went much faster than me. He said that it was something to do with how heavy he was. The best bit was when we came down together. We shot off the end and landed with a bump on our bottoms.
I had a cool time, it was the best fun. What a shame none of my friends was there to enjoy it as well. I hope that we can go again soon. Perhaps Mum will have to take back one of her sale buys and we can go back, just Dad and me.
Playground equipment such as Trim trails and climbing frames have come on a long way recently and now you can feel confident children are safe as well as having fun.
