For all the times your child choked on a nut, or for all the times your older family members showed signs of collapsing and for all the times you received your phone, electricity and credit card bills . . . you wished you had trained yourself in something the medical experts call Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and what we the ordinary / non medical geniuses recognize as CPR. The understanding of CPR has undergone vast changes over many decades and the people at large have finally understood that this life-saving process is not just for the medical experts to know and apply, but is meant for each and every individual irrespective of their profession, gender etc.

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation mainly involves three basic elements which is explained as A, B and C of CPR. Here the A stands for clearing the Airway. This ensures that the patient who may be experiencing a collapse or may be severely choking on something is relieved of the obstruction making the air passage clear and thus, avoiding threat to life. The B element is for ensuring normal Breathing. After clearing the obstruction the CPR provider must ensure ...
... that the patient is breathing normally and that air reaches the lungs. The C stands for Circulation. Usually chest compressions is used to ensure that the blood circulates to all parts of the body, mainly the brain.

CPR is not as easy as it may read. It is necessary to take proper training and avail professional guidance before applying it on someone who may be in need of it. certification is a must and non negotiable. This however, should not be a reason to avoid taking the lessons. Once involved in the process of being trained, things cease to be complicated as it may have before and the trainee acquires valuable knowledge that enables him / her to save many lives. there are many forms of CPR lessons that a person can avail, healthcare provider CPR being the most sought after. This is a part of the Basic Live Support Course (also known as BLS course).

In Healthcare Provider CPR one is trained to identify life threatening emergencies and provide the right CPR accordingly. It is basically meant for those professionals who are involved with health care and medicine in some way or the other, but the lessons involved in the same can be availed by the ordinary people as well. Among the other types of CPR, mention can be made of family and friends CPR, heart saver CPR etc. CPR is also an integral part of ACLS course (which stands for Advanced Cardiac Life Support). This however, is only meant for professionals as it involves many superior techniques and understanding of treatment in critical conditions. This course is not meant for people in other professions. AMERICAN HEART PALS is among the most effective courses that involves CPR as basic. No matter what type of CPR course is availed, what really matters is the people acquire the knowledge of the same and apply it effectively when needed.
