How To Create An Internet Newsletter

As part of getting my online journey started, one of my goals is to start my own internet newsletter.

In this article, you’ll discover what you’ll need to get started, as well as the benefits having your own newsletter can bring.

Let’s get started!
Why Start An Internet Newsletter?

1. Viral promotion of your products and services.

If your newsletter is free and becomes known for delivering a lot of value, you’ll quickly gain a lot of subscribers.

If you have products or services related to the topic of your newsletter (or can find products to promote as an affiliate), you can recommend them to your subscribers.

2. Build a list of targeted, like-minded subscribers.

The great the about running AND subscribing to newsletters, is they’re usually dedicated to one specific topic or area of interest.

This means that by starting your own internet newsletter, you can surround yourself with only people that are interested in what you have to offer. Of course, that also means that once you start promoting products, the traffic you send to their ...
... sales pages will be extremely targeted!

3. You can include part of your products as newsletter content.

This is similar to the first point above. However, there’s one difference:
Instead of simply pitching your products, you’re actually giving a sample of your products as part of what your subscribers will read.

Doing so allows you to create value, but also generate interest in learning more.

If you put a small call-to-action at the end of the content, how hard would it be to make a few extra sales?

For example:
“If you enjoyed this article, check out _____ to discover more ways to _______.”

Simple, right?

This also leads to the next reason you should start an internet newsletter...

4. Starting an internet newsletter is a way to demonstrate your quality and value.

This is especially powerful if your newsletter is free for your subscribers.

You want to deliver as much high-quality content and value as you can. One goal of doing this would be to get your subscribers thinking:

“If their free stuff is this great, I wonder what’s waiting for me in the paid products!”

5. Regular contact with your subscribers.

A lot of people get stuck on what to write, once they start getting subscribers.

Having your own newsletters helps with this in two ways:

First, your newsletter gives you something to focus on.

Second, if you get stuck...you can simply ask your subscribers what they would like to read more about.

What better way to build rapport and let your subscribers know that you care about their opinions?

6. Position yourself as an authority.

Similar to publishing a book, a newsletter can quickly skyrocket you to “expert” status.

The more content you create, the more you are able to demonstrate your knowledge and expertise on any topic.

This is incredibly valuable, because in order to make consistent sales in any business, you need to be the first person people think about when making a purchase related to your market.

Start your newsletter and start establishing yourself as the go-to guy (or girl) in your niche!

How to Find Content to Start Your Internet Newsletter

If you’ve ever had a favorite magazine or even newspaper, you probably expected to be able to get the newest issue on a regular schedule.

In order for your newsletter to be successful, it’s important to maintain that same sort of consistency with your own audience.

Honestly, there are a TON of resources you can tap into. Perhaps we’ll cover that in another article.

For now, here is a brief overview of how to get started:

1. Share your own experiences.

Letting your subscribers know what you’re up to, in terms of the topic you’re writing about, is a great way to create content.

It’s also the perfect way for letting them get to know you, so you can continue to build a relationship.

2. Interview others.

The most popular method these days seems to be audio interviews.

You can also transcribe the audio, to have a text version of your interview.

Interviews are a powerful way to associate yourself with top leaders in your market, while also getting to use their knowledge to provide valuable content.

3. Other people’s articles.

If you’re truly short on ideas, you can sometimes use other people’s articles (with permission).

A lot of people will allow you to reprint their content, as long as you leave the author information intact.

Again, there are a lot of ways to find ideas to start an internet newsletter. In the future, I’ll share some specific resources you can use for a spark of creative inspiration.
