Another important attraction of Darjeeling packages is the opportunity to witness sunrise from atop Tiger Hills. Tiger Hills is the summit of Ghoom which is the highest railway station of Darjeeling Himalayan railway. Tourists have to undergo a two hour climb to the pinnacle and wait there for the sunrise. A panoramic view of Mount Kanchen Junga can be had from the strategic viewpoint of Batasia Loop. Batasia Loop is a gigantic railway loop where the toy train takes a three hundred and sixty degree turn helping it in its ascension.
After savoring all these, tourists can take a relaxing stroll through Mall Road or unwind at Chowrastha which is the central part of Mall Road. Natural waterfalls can be relished at Rock garden and Ganga Maya Park. There are also boating facilities here. You can enjoy the beautiful surroundings while boating. You can visit the Japanese Peace Pagoda situated on the slopes of Jalapahar hill. It was established by a Japanese Buddhist order. Pagoda is the highest free structure in town and also showcases four avatars of Buddha.
In Lloyd Botanical Garden many rare species of flora are on exhibit. Another place to visit is Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park. It is considered one of the better zoos in India. It is the only center that breeds Tibetan wolf in captivity. Breeding programmes for endangered species like red panda, snow leopard and Siberian tiger are carried out here. Another prominent institution is Himalayan Mountaineering Institute. Many mountaineering courses are conducted here.
