With age come a lot of problems, health mostly. And after retirement it becomes extremely difficult to manage finances too. But if you have had an annuity policy done, you can just worry about your health related issues and forget all worries about finances.

These are policies that are much like arranging for your own pension. If you do not receive any pensions after your retirement or if your pension amount is extremely small, it indeed becomes a cause for worry. By opting for annuities, you can escape such worries since even if your ex-company does not pay you a decent pension, your own savings will. All you really need to do, to escape this worry about finances after retirement, is to plan a little ahead while you are still employed.

Annuities are pretty simple policies by which you pay monthly instalment of a fixed sum of money for a certain period of time to a company offering the policy. After that time period is over, say after your retirement, you would get that money back in monthly instalment or as a lump sum amount as per the contract, along with all the interest accumulated ...
... for that entire period of time. It serves as a kind of pension that you have arranged for yourself. If you want to enjoy your retirement to the fullest without any worry for money, make sure you get you annuity policy much before your retirement, while you are still employed and earning money every month as in that way, you can easily pay the monthly instalment. There are different kinds of annuities and each one has different features that are suitable for different kinds of situations. There are differences in the rates of interest too and hence to know the kind of policy that suits your budget as well as situation, consult your agent.

Make sure the company from which you take the annuity policy from is good too along with the policy so as to avoid any unwanted circumstances later on. What you can ideally do is instead of depending on your agent fully, you can ask for quotes for different kinds of the policy from different companies. This can easily be done with the help of the Internet. Once you have the quotes, read reviews of the companies by people who have already taken their services and make a sensible and informed decision.
