Recently, some International Schools in Mumbai were in news as yesteryears Indian actress and diva who returned back to the country from US with her children was looking out for a suitable educational institute which can offer the same quality of education to her kids as they received in the US. This particular news item sort of inspired me to write this article about these educational institutes which have been receiving enough recognition among the NRIs and geographical mobile parents.
Nowadays, we are seeing a reversed trend, NRIs [Non Residents Indians] are returning back to the country. [According to a news report in leading English newspaper, well, the credit for all the brain-gain goes to the recession, so let’s be optimist it is actually a blessing in disguise]. The first thing these parents look out is the IB schools in India, These schools adopt the curriculum that is accredited by some of the reputed international educational bodies like IBO or CIE. These parents usually prefer to move in metro cities like Delhi, Mumbai or Bangalore due to enough employment opportunities. Thus International schools in Mumbaihave become a prime destination for NRIs who settle down in the city and whointend to see that their kids do not feel alienated and lost in their new lives.
My father is an ex-serviceman and had a transferrable job; it was not easy for me and my sister to adjust with the new curriculum each time. Frequent moving and equally recurrent changes of the syllabus used to make frustrated and sometimes affected our studies quite adversely. Well, it was within the country, so at least it was not so problematic to get well along with the curriculum as there was not such a vast difference in syllabus of different regional or national boards. However, I could very well understand the condition of a child who has to move from one country to another with his or her mother and father. IB schools in India come to their aid, as it offers them the curriculum which is adopted and uniform all around the globe.
Therefore, if the child has to move from say Singapore, he or she can continue with the same curriculum, same teaching methods, same kind of staff members and above all with children who like himor her are gypsies [I mean frequent movers]. Therefore, top executives in MNCs or defense officer posted in the embassies or other diplomats generally prefer to enroll their children in International schools in Mumbai.
So, that their studies are not affected with regular changes in the curriculum. They get uniformity in their studies with the IB schools in India; hence it is getting so popular among the parents who have to keep on moving due to professional commitments. Above all these reasons like uniformity in syllabus or teaching methods, a major factor that makes the geographically mobile parents seek admission in IB schools in India, is the exposure their kids get.
