With the spring thaw on and summer just around the corner, many men are starting to pay attention to what the 2008 summer season will call for in terms of fashion. This year, it looks as though the safari look, event dressing, and even throwback hats will all be in style for the gentlemen. Let's take a look at a few of the projected trends for the season.

Rat Pack! Long gone from the fashion scene, the trends originally popularized by the ‘50s group the Rat Pack. The name of course referred to several huge entertainers who did shows together and often were seen in each other's company, and they redefined style. The comebacks for 2008? If you can believe it, pork pie hats (wide brimmed and flat) and bow ties.

Safari looks: Another big look this summer is going to be the safari style, and that extends from top to bottom. Specialty jackets are a big part of this year's look, with the safari model paving the way for the rugged, adventurous looking guy. Jerseys, particularly basketball jersey styles (think no sleeves) will be the item this summer, along with casual warm up pants and so on. Perfect for the sports fan that doesn't actually play!

Event dressing: It's time for guys to dress up their out of the ordinary attire when they attend special events such as weddings and openings, and the summer fashions are perfectly suited to the calling. Light coloured, slightly glossy jackets are in, and it won't hurt to add some splashes of colour to the ensemble in order to stand out.

Bags! That's right, the season of the man purse is on in full force. Man bags typically look like bags that a postal worker or messenger might carry, kind of like a laptop bag but with a bit more fashion punch. They come in pretty handy too.
