Creating Prototypes
When creating any product, the longest process is likely to be the building and analysing of different prototypes. However, this does not necessarily need to be so and, with the right hardware, companies can save a huge amount of time.
The use of 3D printers is still fairly limited within industry, despite the fact that such printers are now extremely affordable. In certain cases, the cost of a single printer can be more than recouped through one project, whilst being able to be used time and time again to speed up the production process. Not only this, but the same 3D printer can even be used to create products that will have a limited run.
Whilst dedicated machinery will be needed to quickly produce a vast quantity of a certain object, a 3D printer can easily produce a limited run of specific products to save businesses a huge amount of money.
The other benefit of this form of rapid prototyping is the accuracy of the items that can be created. Whilst such prototypes would have been traditionally created by hand, the accuracy or 3D printing means that a far more detailed prototype can be created and in ...
... far less time.
Many of these printers will allow you to create the prototype direct from the CAD designs, making the process as cheap and fast as possible for every single product you wish to create.
Rapid prototyping reduces overheads for companies significantly and ensures that those creating designs can also create the prototype instantly as opposed to needing to pass the project off to another section of a team.
Using this form of prototyping, problems can be solved and manufacturing deadlines can be met far more easily, and with far more accuracy than with any other form of prototyping, whilst at the same time potentially lowering the cost of products for the consumer or raising profits significantly.
