Enlisted to act as the manager or coach of a sports club or youth team can be an exciting and proud moment for all individuals who are given the opportunity to teach groups across a variety of ages and genders a multitude of skills, ranging from the basics to professional standard, towards potential success within their respective field. The taking part and fun element of participating in an individual or team sport remains the fundamental aspect, particularly for children or young adults who should be given the freedom to express and enjoy themselves without getting caught up in becoming self-critics which has a negative effective on attitude and confidence. The competitive nature instilled across numerous sports can, on occasions, lead to accidents or injuries that require treatment on the pitch or field; although the scale of injury is extremely flexible within any isolated incident, it is highly imperative that a club are equipped with a medical kit which can be effectively utilised by a coach or another individual who has undertaken training in first aid.

Football is an archetypal example of a sport whereby ...
... first aid courses are perquisite towards ensuring the safety and well-being of all players is maintained, irrespective of the level of injury. The FA Charter Standard status is exclusively awarded to clubs who provide quality assurance across a multitude of aspects; these include a code of conduct for equality and discipline for coaches and player alike to adhere to, in addition to parents becoming assured their children are under the guidance of fully qualified coaches within their respective sport and training in first aid.

Undertaking first aid courses is equally as important for coaches to have the correct qualifications as it is for the players or individuals who partake in any sport. Such courses teach the importance of maintaining a good stock of medical equipment within a kit that should require the essential elements to treat either the most common or all types of injury, whether it is a cut or broken bone. As the six minutes after an injury has occurred is critical to the player or players who are hurt, sufficient training will teach a coach how to identify each individual injury and respond accordingly in order to stabilise any situation.
