The humble pressure cooker may instil memories of decades gone by, but the truth is that many homes are once again realising the benefits that the modern pressure cooker has to offer. It is an ideal addition to the kitchen of any busy home and it offers a well cooked meal every time, that can be prepared during the day while you're at work or while you get the kids ready after school and do the housework.

You won't ruin meals again with a conventional pressure cooker. You simply add the ingredients you want and then set it to cook at the desired setting. Once you master a meal you can be sure that it will turn out exactly the same every time you cook it. You won't accidentally burn the meat and your veg won't cook dry while you're doing other things. Even the most reluctant cook can enjoy preparing great tasting meals with little effort and trouble.

There are a number of decisions you will need to make when buying a pressure cooker and one is which size is best for your needs? Typically, the volume of the pressure cooker is measured in litres and they range from 4.5 litre to 10 litre cookers. If you only prepare ...
... small meals occasionally or you have very limited space then the smaller size will be ample but family meals are best prepared in the large 10 litre cookers.

When it comes to the material that the pressure cooker is made from, your best option is to buy stainless steel. You can find aluminium and other materials but stainless steel is a very tough, resilient, and long lasting metal. It will withstand water and heat, too, which makes it the ideal material for creating a pressure cooker from.

Also consider any additional features and settings the pressure cooker may have. A pressure cooker will cook food very quickly indeed which makes it ideal for busy families but you can also find those that double up as slow cookers which enable you to prepare your meals while you go about your daily life.
