Nutritional Imbalance Result In Myopia Of Children
Children eye specialists pointed out that in addition to genetics, excessive early education, computers and other well-known factors, nutritional imbalance is also a reason contributing to myopia of children which cannot be ignored. Foods containing high fat and high calorie play an important role in myopia of children. So parents should pay great attention to children’s diets in daily life, which can help prevent myopia of children in a great extent.
Reason
High-fat and high-calorie foods contain a relatively low content of vitamins and minerals. However, vitamin A and calcium are precisely the essential elements of eye development. Insufficient intake of such substances will cause increased pressure inside the eyes, convex eyes, and elongated distance from before and after, thus leading to myopia, amblyopia and other low vision problems.
The solutions:
Strategy one:
“Omnivorous” is an effective way to ensure the balanced nutrition of children. Reject the bad habits of being picky about foods and partiality for a particular kind of food; usually, parents can consciously give children ...
... plenty of foods that are closely related with eye development to eat, such as carrot, fish, seafood, fruits and vegetables, coarse grains containing vitamin A, vitamin B1, B2, vitamin D, and vitamin E.
As for sugar, chocolate, and butter, it is should be appropriate in the amount, because sweet foods are not good for eye development. On contrary, sweet foods are easy to make children not concentrate, or even cause hyperactivity.
Strategy two:
Teach children to learn how to use eye correctly. For little children, the period of reading should not exceed 20 minutes every time; the distance between the eyes and the book should remain about a foot; the light should also be moderate.
Eyes also need rest. At most half an hour after using the eyes, children should do eye exercises or look at the distant place. In addition, do more outdoor exercise.
Strategy three:
Parents should take children to have a visual inspection every six months (not longer than one year at most), in order to find the problems that may arise in children’s eyes. If your child repeatedly looks at a certain thing at a close range or with squinting eyes, do not neglect more to have visual test.
