Chef uniforms are usually very elaborate affairs which consist of many pieces of clothing. Most of the chain restaurants and big hotels now expect their chef’s to be attired in a proper manner so as to portray a professional look to the customers.

Chef uniforms consist of many pieces starting with chef hat called as a Toque or a head net then a bandana, scarf, bow tie, chef neckerchief. The chef uniforms also consist of an apron, chef coat or jacket, chef pants, gloves, belt and shoes.

Many chefs prefer to wear skull caps instead of the chef hats. These caps and hats or head net is worn to ensure that the dish being prepared does not have stray or loose hair in it.
