Himachal Pradesh is a paradise for tourists. Himachal Pradesh tourism provides everything from snow topped mountains, picturesque hills and waterfall, religious places and above all peace and serenity of nature’s best. Himachal Pradesh is a North Indian State. The name Himachal means in the “lap of Himalayas”.

Himachal Pradesh tourism is famous for its picturesque Himalayan landscapes and popular hill-stations. Activities such as rock climbing, mountain biking, paragliding, ice-skating, and heli-skiing are popular tourist attractions. Shimla, the state capital and is very popular among tourists. The Kalka-Shimla Railway is a Mountain railway which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Shimla is also a famous skiing attraction in India along with other hill stations like Manali and Kasauli. Dharamshala, home of the Dalai Lama, is popular for its Tibetan monasteries and Buddhist temples.

Famous destinations in Himachal Pradesh include Dalhousie, Shimla, Manali, Kullu, Madni, Bilaspur, Solan, Spiti Valley, Kinnaur, Dharamshala and Kangra Valley among many others. Tourists also enjoy visiting interesting places ...

Dalhousie is a small but a very beautiful town in Himachal named after the 19th century British Governor Lord Dalhousie. The town is quaint and charming and is reminiscent of colonial India. Tourists can enjoy walks along pine and rhododendron groves. The many old buildings and Churches add to its charm. Other places that can be visited are Subhash Baoli, Panjpulla and Bakrota hills.
As a tourist destination Shimla has a number of places of interest for tourists. The Mall is the main shopping destination of Shimla. It has many restaurants, clubs, banks, bars, post offices and tourist offices. The popular Gaiety Theatre is also situated there. People can enjoy leisurely walks here and also shop and eat in the many restaurants and bakeries. Christ Church located in the Ridge is the second oldest Church in Northern India. The stained glass windows make the Church a very popular destination. The Shimla State museum is also worth a visit to understand the history and culture of the place.

Manali is a very popular tourist choice in summer and in winter Manali resembles a magical snow covered winter land. Manali with its scenic beauty and serene atmosphere tops the all time tourist destination list. Manali is famed for its many trekking paths; white water rafting and Rohtang pass which is very close to Manali. The minimum temperature could be below -5C from October to March, and December, January and February are its coldest months. In the other months the temperature ranges from 15c to 20c.

Dharamshala is another popular place in Himachal. The town is beautiful and offers many treks. It is popular as “The Little Lhasa of India” because of its Buddhist monasteries and influences. Nine kilometers away McCleodganj is another popular detination.
Himachal Pradesh is well connected by roads, rail and air. The small towns offer very charming and comfortable accommodations.
