Types Of Black Tea And Their Different Characteristics

There are numerous types of black tea, and the popular ones are staples amongst most households in North America and Europe. Black tea goes under more oxidation compared to other varieties of teas, such as green tea, white tea and oolong tea. It is because of the way the leaves are completely oxidized that the taste of black tea is more complex, astringent and stronger.
Black teas may be blended or unblended, and there are many other types of black teas under each of them, with each having their own distinctive taste. Different unblended black teas have distinguishing flavors, and their names originated from the area they are produced. Unblended teas, in contrast with their counterpart, the blended variety, are not that widespread commercially.
In Europe and North America, types of black tea, such as Earl Grey, English Breakfast, Orange Pekoe and other blended variety are commonly drank beverages. Blended varieties create more complex flavors, due to the mixture of black tea and other plants such as citrus, pomegranate, vanilla and many more. Earl Grey is an example of black tea with an added element-bergamot ...

Orange Pekoe in the tea industry pertains to a standard medium-grade tea, with a subtle citrus flavor and lingering sweetness. Another black tea, Lapsang Souchong is not too well known by many but is flavorful for its smoky taste. There are other types of black tea that are blended and popular among tea lovers, and these are English Afternoon tea, Irish Breakfast and Masala Chai.
When it comes to quality, whole leaf teas are deemed by the industry as the tea with the highest grade. Tea companies separate leaves by size utilizing a sieve. The best tea bags are those with whole leaf in them, because they are produced with minor or even no modification to the leaf. These are also more costly in comparison with teas with broken leaves, fannings and dusts.
For some people, the best tea bags are from the black tea variety. One of the reasons for this is the capability of black tea to retain its full flavor even after long periods of time, and this is not common in other tea types such as white or green tea. Because of the way they retain their flavor, this type of tea is considered an important commodity and is used in trading in the 19th century.
