Introduction:
SAP is System analysis and program development, however it was changed later and came to known as system application products for data processing.SAP had its foundation in 1972 and was renamed in 1977.It is a resource planning system which helps to manage all the departments of a particular organization through a single centralized system. Concept of SAP is been effectively used by several big organizations such as Microsoft and IBM.

Understanding Sap better:-

Its main purpose is to design software for business application based on client-server environment. Its working modules are integrated and consists most functions which are required by major organizations, including fields such as finance, sales, demand, manufacturing, distribution and human resource department. As consists of number of business modules, each module has over 1000 business processes. Such huge number of business processing requires a system to manage it, thus ERP was introduced in SAP.

In ERP-SAP audit trail of all transaction can also be maintained. In this system employees at all levels are involved to their member function in their entire functional cycle. It utilizes database, common for organization thus considered to be an open system. Besides its all use-full utilities it thus consists of certain drawbacks.

SAP ERP DRAWBACKS:

SAP has been criticized because of its high -performance cost and the very long implementation time which overburden organizations to decide their business strategy. In case of complex –system but it are very difficult to maintain it and may even take several years for implementation. The approach is not user friendly and it by default comes with expensive maintenance cost.
