Chhattisgarh came into existence on November 1, 2000. It was formed with 16 Chhattisgarhi speaking south-eastern districts of Madhya Pradesh. Earlier known as Dakshin Kausal, the name gained popularity in the Maratha Period. Raipur is the biggest city and the state’s capital too. Being the tenth largest state in India, it occupies an area of 52,199 square kilometers. By population it ranks seventeenth largest state. It is surrounded by Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Orissa, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh around it. The northern and southern parts of the state are hilly, while in the central is a fertile plain. Tourism is rich here and hence it’s the USP of the state. It is a perfect eco-tourism destination with rare biodiversity and nature to complement it with, therefore making it complete tourist package.

... a later period. Champran, a village which has religious significance as it is the birthplace of the holy saint, Vallabhacharya. There is temple in his memory. Towards the east of Raipur we find the shrines Laxman and Gandheshwar. The Laxman temple is known for its fine bricks and the Gandheshwar temple stands majestically on the bank of River Mahanadi.
The other things which draw attention of the tourist’s are Bhoramdeo, which is known for its carved sculptures.Chitrakote falls where water plunges from a height of 100 feet and it’s a gory to watch it. The upper and lower ghats of Jashpur have scenic beauty with green meadows and luxurious waterfalls. This view is a blessing for visitors.
Enriched with innumerable treasures of natural magnificence, it adds a significant boost to the state’s revenue. From the artistic rock engravings in the ancient hills and pristine streams to wildlife parks and tribal communities, the state of Chhattisgarh is synonymous to eternal aesthetic pleasure. The tribal communities of the state like Gond, Muriya, kol, Munda, Bhunjia, Dandami, Savra, Halba and many others attract tourists through their folk arts, rich culture and religious rituals which are not heard in the present day. There are people from all over the world who visit this place of brimming beauty.
The best time to visit the state is during the winter season between the months of February and March. In the march there is a famous Bhogaria Haat festival.in the summer it is very humid. Chattisgarh is the focal point of the country and there are various means , such as Raipur airways and railways to reach the state.
