Yelagiri Hills – An Idyllic Holiday Destination

Yelagiri Hills – an idyllic holiday destination
Yelagiri Hills is a beautiful hill station located in Tamil Nadu that is renowned for its relaxed and serene environment offer the perfect abode for harassed souls of cities to un-wind over the weekend. The region is still not spoilt by overt urbanization and the tribal’s still continue to live their life in the same way they have been since centuries, thus giving the region a unique appearance that is a blend of the old and new attracting tourists from far and across.
Yelagiri Hills majestically sits at an altitude of 920m above sea level amidst four mountains. The region is an interesting place to visit wherein you can not only enjoy the rich natural beauty of the region but also try out various adventure sports activities like trekking, hiking, camping, nature walks and much more. Yelagiri Hills not being overtly commercialized it is one of those few places where you can enjoy a peaceful holiday without being hassled by local touts or get disturbed by the chaos of the cities.
The region has not much to offer when it comes to tourist attractions except ...
... for the natural attractions like the greenery, hills, waterfalls, lakes etc. However when visiting a region like Yelagiri the main object is to get away for a moment of solitariness, moment for self retrospect and meditation to calm down the nerves and soul. The few attractions of the region include the Swamimalai hills, Punganur Lake, Velvan Temple, Telescope observatory, Jalagamparai Waterfalls and others.
There are few hotels in Yelagiri Hills that are mostly budget hotel, but offer great services and facilities for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Enjoying a salubrious climate the best time to visit the region is all around the year especially during the summer months when the heat gets too unbearable to bear down.
Yelagiri Hills is also pretty well connected to nearby regions and also rest of India either directly or through a series of connecting transportations. The nearest airport from Yealgiri Hills is the Bangalore Airport that offers numerous domestic as well as international flights. Apart from that the nearest train station is located at Jolrpet from where a cab is needed to reach the hill station.
