Nagarjuna Sagar formerly known as Vijayapuri is a small located in between Hyderabad and Guntur in Andhra Pradesh. The region derives its name from Acharya Nagarjuna a Buddhist saint. The tiny little region is well renowned all over the world for its dam on the Krishna River known as the Nagarjuna Dam which is the tallest masonry dam in the world. It is the earliest multipurpose irrigation and hydro electric projects in India and a major tourist attraction of the region.
