In 2012 the UK Government will launch their most ambitious home improvement scheme to date. The Green Deal will fund energy improvement measures for around 14 million UK homes. This article looks into the different types of Insulation which will be available through the Green Deal.

The Green Deal has been designed to improve the UK's poorly insulated homes and business premises. Energy consumers are paying more and more for inefficient housing and as more families fall into fuel poverty, there is no better time for the Government to take serious action.

Types of Insulation Available from the Green Deal

Loft Insulation

It's a well known fact that heat rises and our old, draughty buildings lose a great deal of heat through the roof. By installing simple, cost effective loft insulation, a typical household could save a considerable amount of money on an annual basis. It's "quick and easy" installation process and rapid return on investment makes it an ideal energy efficiency measure for the Green Deal ...

Wall Insulation

There are two types of wall insulation. Cavity wall insulation, which is when you fill the gap between the inner and outer wall, and solid wall insulation. Solid walls lose even more heat than cavity walls and are treated by adding a n extra insulating layer, either to the inside of outside of the wall. Wall insulation is more expensive than other forms of insulation but will qualify for Green Deal funding, so long as it applies to the "Golden Rule".

Windows

Old, single pained windows do very little to lock a buildings heat in. Although a little expensive, properly fitted double glazed windows can make a massive difference to a buildings energy efficiency and will also feature in the Green Deal Scheme, as long as the installation lives up to the "Golden Rule".
