Basic Information On Nrp
Respiratory depression is common among new born babies and has been the cause for severe health damage or even loss of lives of many. The first few minutes of the birth of any baby is very crucial in determining its health. Not all infants are born perfect and many require assistance to make it through the first few moments outside the womb. It is common for babies to cry once hey are out of the womb, which in a way shows that their breathing is fine. However, this may not be the case for all babies. While crying can be optional, the health care providers must ensure that the baby is not undergoing any kind of respiratory problems. NRP is one such procedure which can be applied on the newborns to ensure that their airway and respiration is functioning properly.
NRP stands for Neonatal Resuscitation Program and has been designed and developed by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the American Heart Association. It is a kind of educational program that is meant to educate the trainees on the basic life support skills required by an infant. Before performing NRP the trainees however, are required to ...
... take NRP certification. Providing respiratory care to infants is not an easy task at all and people are required to take proper training before acquiring the certification. The person must be thorough with providing neonatal resuscitation in order to qualify for the certification and use the skill for the intended purpose.
It is necessary for all in pediatrics and childcare professionals to have NRP certification. However, even those people who have no exposure to medicine and child-health can apply for and acquire certification after attending proper training conducted by certified institutions. Almost all hospitals and health care centers offer training on NRP. The enthusiasts though, have the option of availing training material on the same over the internet by paying the mentioned price. Online training has become very common among people just like Advanced Cardiac Life Support or, ACLS course. This is very convenient for professionals who are into extremely time bound work schedule.
People often question necessity of NRP certification when PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) is known for being the all-in-one in child care. the aim of NRP though, is slightly different from PALS. While it is true that PALS and NRP works more-or-less towards the same end, PALS in more for use outside the delivery room and NRP is more for use inside the delivery room. The point is to have one person inside every delivery room who knows how to resuscitate an minute-old infant without killing it. This is meant to improve the quality of birth and ensure better health of the infant.
NRP certification is subject to the conditions that surround other certifications like the ACLS, PALS, BLS, CPR etc. Recertification will also be required after the lapse of a certain time period. The procedures for certification, recertification and examination can be availed both online and off line.
