Thailand is home to all kinds of fashion, and Bangkok, Thailand's capital, is the place to find it all. Thailand has come quite far in the past 30 years. With its tourist industry and the great influence western countries have had on it, Thailand has become a melting pot of the East and the West.

When shopping in Bangkok, you'll find all types of fashion, from the low-end to the high-end. You can designer clothes and traditional clothing all in the same place.

If you're in the mood to find more traditional pieces of clothing in Bangkok then the places to go are to the markets. There are night markets, such as the Nana Night Market, Suan-Lam Night Bazaar, and the Patpong Night Market, among others.

There are also second-hand markets (where they sale items that have already been worn). Some of these are the Watch Market, the Talad Fai Chai, and the Lang Krasuang Market.

A couple of other regular markets where you can get some great deals are the Silom, Klong Thomm and Pantip. At these markets you can pay between one-eighth to one-tenth of the original prices for fake designer ...
... bags and accessories. Fake versions of designer names like Louis Vuitton and Gucci are over these markets. These markets have made Thailand famous for its fake brand name luxury items.

But if you've got more money to spend and prefer to buy things that will last and that are worth your money, then there are plenty of malls and designer stores to pick and chose from.

There are department stores like Zen, Pata, Robinson, Isetan, and Emporium that are just waiting for you come explore them.

There is also the Ribbon Center, where there is the largest selection of fashion accessories in Thailand. In fact, this center is the biggest fashion accessories wholesale store in all of Thailand.

And lastly, there are the chain stores and the malls, where you can find real designer items. Bangkok has the Erawan Bangkok, All Season Place, Siam Square, and the Gaysorn Plaza.

You can also venture to the Thai Silk Company, where Thailand's famous hand-woven silk is made. The founder of the company, Jim Thompson, has increased the international fashion scene's focus on this material and has, therefore, helped increase the popularity of the material worldwide. Thailand's famous silk has also helped to increase Thailand's popularity and increase the number of tourists visiting the country.

If you are able to go outside the city of Bangkok, then there are other stores that you must check out. The Royal Folk Arts & Crafts Center is located in Bang Sai. The Floating Market is in Damnoen Saduak, about 50 miles from Bangkok. There is also the city of Pattaya. This city has many malls (like the Royal Garden Plaza) and cute, funky boutiques.

Now, if you'd rather explore the world and history of fashion rather than spend your money on it, then you can go to the Bangkok Fashion Center, which is the largest fashion library in Asia. The place is dedicated to fashion, in all its forms. The library has information ranging from garment manufacturing, to leatherwear, to gems to international fashion.
