The cornhole game can be found anywhere there are parties, but it is more popular in the North. As a party game, a person really cannot find an easier and more enjoyable activity for people of all ages. To play the cornhole game, a person throws soft, small bags toward a hole in a board. The bags used to be stuffed with corn, which is where the game got its name. Today, however, the bags generally contain hard plastic pellets which do not deteriorate, or they contain small beans. The bags are still the same size and weight, however, and the rules of the game are basically the same. Fitting in most car trunks, the board is both lightweight and compact, and it can be made from either plastic or wood. This makes it easy to transport and take to various parties and get-togethers.

Also, a lot of people enjoy the cornhole game because it is not strenuous physically and it is easy to play. Because there are no heavy pieces or sharp edges, even very young children can play the game. There are no complex regulations and rules, so almost anyone can play the game without becoming confused, no matter what their age. Too many rules ...
... make games frustrating when they should just be fun. There is a simplicity to the cornhole game. The player stands a specified distance from the board. Then the player takes aim at the hole and carefully tosses the bags one at a time. If a bag goes in the hole, points are scored. A bag that lands on the board but fails to fall in the hole can also score points if it does not fall off but these bags are not worth as much as putting a bag in the hole. Bags that miss the board, or that hit and fall off, do not score any points. Those who are playing the game will continue until one person scores enough points to be declared the winner.

Some people even build their own cornhole boards, and the Internet has instructions for doing this. Anyone who can follow simple directions and work with wood and simple tools should not have difficulty building a cornhole board for themselves. The cornhole bags can also be built at home, because they are a heavy but lightweight cloth filled with beans or plastic pellets. In addition, online instructions for the bags address what size they need to be, how much they should weigh, and what they can be filled with to continue to meet regulations. Some people take this very seriously, and they even play in cornhole tournaments around the country. These people can win prizes, and there are predictions that cornhole will move into the mainstream like cup stacking or bowling.

For birthday parties, tailgating parties, barbecues, family reunions, and other get-togethers, though, cornhole cannot be beat. The game is popular with children and adults because of the ease of playing it and the very simple rules that it has. In addition, the game is spreading from where it was so popular in the North. Now, it is starting to move into different areas of the country, and this will create more fun at more parties in more places.
