The Oreck vacuum cleaner began in such a way that many people did not even know about the brand. It was originally developed for hotels and motels, where the cleaning crew had been previously forced to carry bulky and heavy vacuum cleaners up stairs and from room to room. In order to help stop this, the inventor of Oreck came up with a vacuum cleaner that was much lighter. Weighing only eight pounds, this vacuum was marketed to various hotels until it began to catch on. From there, the Oreck vacuum cleaner was used in all types of hotels, from the inexpensive, budget ones all of the way up through the posh and expensive hotels that are found in some of the larger cities. Because of this, the hotel cleaning industry was forever changed by this style of vacuum. It made the work that the cleaning staff had to do much easier, and the individuals who did this type of work were also able to complete it more quickly, which was a large benefit to hotels which paid hourly wages to these individuals.
