Dancehall has been the kind of music genre that has lasted for many years but has not been able to be that popular as other prevalent forms of music today. Its roots lie in the Jamaican form of music, which focused on something similar to reggae in its music form. Dancehall began way back in the 70's when music in Jamaican popular culture was gradually picking up pace. There were many clubs but most of them were biased on the basis of segregation in the society. The people separated were not allowed to enjoy this music in places because of the socio political nature of the society at that point.
