Campaign Will Help With Purchase Of First Aid Equipment

First aid equipment plays a vital role in helping to protect the wellbeing of individuals around the UK and in other countries around the world. Of course, such items can be found in hospitals and other medical centres, but it is also vital in a range of other environments.

One man who feels passionately about the provision of such emergency equipment is Chesterfield banker Ian Boston. After attending a routine first aid at work course, he decided he was so impressed by the learning programme that he would become a volunteer for St John Ambulance (SJA) Walton Division, the Chesterfield Post reports.

SJA teaches individuals first aid. Indeed, in the last year alone, it has provided around 800,000 people with such training. The charity conducts sessions in schools, in the workplace and in the community and it also provides first aid products to help individuals put their learning into practice in real-life situations.

Mr Boston, who works in the credit risk services department at HSBC in Sheffield, has also been raising money. Recently, he joined other volunteers in a sponsored resuscitation event, along with ...

The event took place at SJA County Headquarters and a total of £1,866 was generated. Meanwhile, HSB also contributed £500 for each of the three employees who participated, meaning the total raised exceeded £3,000. A cheque was subsequently handed to SJA trainer Wendy Rushby and the money could be spent on a range of things, including first aid kits.

Commenting on his motivation for taking part, Mr Boston stated: "I went on a first aid at work course and Wendy was training. I asked her how I could get involved and ended up in Walton Division. Now I can practise my first aid skills every week and also use them when we're on duty at events."
