Bo-Kaap is the area of Cape Town, situated in South Africa, surrounded by the Table Mountain range. It is also called the Malay Quarter. It is found in the Signal Hill and is the historical center of Cape Malay. It is a multicultural area and its streets have a romantic architecture.

People can find here the Nurul Islam Mosque which was founded in 1844. The oldest building in the region it is the Bo-Kaap Museum which dates in 1760s and its the result of the Muslim influence in the area. The Museum gathers old pieces of furniture dating in the 19th century, including dining tables, Cape Regency style in chairs and chamber decorations.

The residents are mostly the descendants of free slaves which originated either in Africa, Asia or various islands. The early Muslim settlers had small businesses of tailoring, carpentering, shoe making and building. The Boo Kaap Cultural and Heritage Gateway is a nonprofit organization which focuses on job creation and skill development.
