Dubai is about to host its first Tourism Development Projects and Investment Market (TDIM) exhibition from January 20-22, 2008. Projects worth over $190 billion are expected to be showcased by 50 major companies.
Dubai's tourism sector has been growing at a healthy rate with more than half a million tourists visiting each year. This is almost a quarter of what the whole of Middle East may get yearly. Dubai's government has set a target of receiving 1.5 million tourists by the year 2010. The infrastructure needed to attain this level is already either in place or under construction, with scores of Dubai hotels, Dubai apartments and other facilities getting raised non-stop.

Some key projects being developed under the theme of Dubailand are going to play a lead role in promoting Dubai's tourism. Dubailand is a marvelous combination of several theme parks with holiday resorts, Dubai apartments, adventure spots and shopping malls - all stacked together in a single landscape. It is estimated to cost roughly $20 billion on its completion in the year 2018. Available data says the UAE's contribution to the Middle Eastern ...
... tourism is about 85%, with an investment of roughly $231 billion proposed until the year 2018. An estimated $122 billion of this allocation is expected to go along in Dubai's favor alone.

"The show will add further momentum to an already bullish tourism in the region", believes Frederic Theux, the president of Reed Exhibitions (Middle East), which is organizing the show. Participants will include the key industry names like Nakheel, Dubailand, Falcon City of Wonders, Bawadi, Global Village, Dubai's Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing and official delegations from Syria and Egypt. The show, which will commence at Dubai International Exhibition and Convention Center, is
expected to draw attention on various upcoming projects - involving leisure facilities, seaside resorts, Dubai apartments, hotels etc - and also hold seminars to debate industry matters.

According to Theux, "Reed Exhibitions has been staging events so that various government bodies, private players and industry giants in the region had a face-to-face debate on various issues. This latest TDIM show in Dubai is part of the same strategy", he added. Dubai's landscape has rapidly been growing due to a fast growing economy in the last few years. This
has resulted into a random construction of high-rise Dubai apartments, hotels, and other establishments all around. Reed is trying to gather all parties involved and make the whole process more orderly by staging the latest TDIM show in Dubai.

Besides, one should keep in mind the competition Dubai may have to face from the other Middle Eastern cities in a few years from now. The whole region apart from Dubai is finally getting projected on the world's tourism radar. Unless the government institutions and developers, who collectively plan and propose the construction of Dubai apartments, hotels and commercial establishments across the nation, were made to discuss their strategies face-to-face, there was a fear of slow down in Dubai's economy and tourism down the lane. TDIM show plays the same moderation role in Dubai's context.
