It is made of milk and butter and has a high fat content mixed with coconut oil for giving rigidity. Canadian toffees constitutes cracker with peanuts and butter for taste and smoothing effect. The European varieties are made from cocoa powder which is mixed with syrup apart from supplementing fat and milk powder. The Swiss chocolate consists of butter and cream poured on melted toffee.

Some toffees should be consumed within a week of its manufacture and some others can be taken up to 6 months also. It is not that difficult to make toffees at home provided you know the right proportion of mixing butter and cocoa powder.
