Much Information About Restless Legs Syndrome

Have you experienced that you have an urge to move your legs during your sleep? This kind of syndrome often affects people's sleep quality, so it also belongs to sleep disorder and we called it restless legs syndrome.
Restless legs syndrome is a disorder of the part of people's nervous system. It makes you feel an irresistible urge to move your legs to stop uncomfortable or odd sensations. People who have RLS describe the unpleasant feelings as creeping, crawling, pulling, itching, tingling, burning, aching, or electric shocks. And sometimes, these feeling also occur on other parts of our bodies.
According to studies, restless legs syndrome can begin at any age and generally worsens as you get older. Women are more likely than men to develop this condition. Once restless legs syndrome occurs on your body during your sleep, it will make you feel extreme uncomfortable and hard to fall asleep again.
There are three main factors that may cause restless legs syndrome. They are:
Chronic diseases: Some certain diseases such as kidney failure, diabetes, and peripheral neuropathy, Parkinson’s disease, ...
... iron deficiency may lead to restless legs syndrome.
Medications: Some types of medications, including antinausea drugs, antipsychotic drugs, containing antihistamines may worsen symptoms.
Pregnancy: Especially in the last trimester. In most cases, symptoms usually disappear within 4 weeks after delivery.
There are four basic criteria for diagnosing the restless legs syndrome. A: for diagnosing the disorder are; B: A strong and often overwhelming need or urge to move the affected limb(s), often associated with paresthesias or dysesthesias; C: The sensations begin following relaxation and during sleep; D: Temporary relief from these sensations during movement of the affected legs.
RLS can also cause difficulty in falling or staying asleep which can be one of the chief complaints of the syndrome. A substantial number of people who have RLS also have periodic limb movements of sleep.
Medications may be helpful as RLS treatments, but the same drugs are not helpful for everyone. In fact, a drug that relieves symptoms in one person may worsen them in another. A trial of iron supplements is recommended only for individuals with low iron levels. Although many people find some relief with such measures, rarely do these efforts completely eliminate symptoms.
Some people with restless legs syndrome never seek medical attention because they worry that their symptoms are too difficult to describe or won't be taken seriously.
This kind of sleep disorder may affect your sleep heavily, so when you find you can never take a good sleep you should go to consult your doctor.
