Falaj
Oman has many more adventures to explore other than hotels, forts, beaches, trekking points and falaj is one of those exportable adventures in oman. A falaj in Oman is a system of the water flow underground that works through a channel dug in the ground. Aflaj is the plural of the word falaj that, in fact, shows the structure of the irrigation in Oman. Some of the tourism points in Oman like resorts and parks use the system of afalaj that gives a beautiful look. Where the water or falaj comes from is an interesting question. Falaj are generated because of the underground lakes which are made on account of the porosity and permeability of the rocks. These two qualities of the rocks result in lakes formation and via these lakes the flow of water through falaj takes place. The normal depth of a falaj is 50 meters and the length may go up to 12 km.
No doubt that falaj is an old water structure in Oman, but the administration is there to work over it. The people there have maintained a good system of the well distribution of water.
