Chase Mountains
Socrates and Laxou agreed to visit a mountain in a place very far away. It is said that the scenery there is as beautiful as a picture. When people get there, they will have a stoned feeling.

Many years later, they met again. They all have found that the mountain was too far away. Even if they spent a lifetime, they cannot get to that fascinating place. Laxou was very depressed and said: “I have made every effort to run over, but I haven’t seen any picturesque scenery. It really made me sad!”

Socrates whisked away the dust on the robe and said: “There is much wonderful scenery on the way here. Haven’t you noticed?”

Laxou looked embarrassed and replied: “I simply run toward the distant goal. How could I have the mind to enjoy the scenery along the way?”

“That is a pity!” Socrates said, “When we seek a distant goal, we must not forget that everywhere on a journey there is beautiful scenery!”

... could not bear to betroth his daughter to the beast, but he did not dare to refuse, so he came up with an idea. When the lion came to urge him, the farmer said to it: “I am willing to betroth my daughter to you, but I’m afraid of your canine claws. If you cut them, my daughter will marry you immediately.” The lion immediately agreed. It returned home to cut its fangs and claws. But in this way, the farmer was not afraid of the lion. When the lion came again, the farmer drove it away with a wooden stick.

Intention: to give up the power you’ve already owned is unwise.
New ideas: fish cannot leave the abyss, the state rewards and punishments of the weapon cannot be easily changed hands.

Description: A Harvard truth: do not easily give up one’s real power, or once losing it, it is too late to get again.
