Till few years back, athletes, sports persons, chiropractors, orthopedists, acupuncturists, and others used conventional taping techniques for healing injured muscles, pain in neck, back, shoulders, and other body parts. Traditional taping methods were used to stabilize and support the injured body part but they ended up obstructing the normal flow of bodily fluids, causing redness, swelling, pain, and other undesirable side effects.

In order to overcome the problems associated with the conventional taping techniques, kinesio taping technique was discovered. Kinesio taping technique provided stability and support to the injured joints and muscles without affecting their range of motion and circulation. The technique involves application of a very soft and elastic tape called kinesio tape over the affected body part for treating the muscles and surrounding tissues from the outside.

The technique of kinesio taping is based upon the science of kinesiology. According to kinesiology, the muscles in the body are not responsible for handling the movements in the body alone. But in fact, they control the movement of ...
... venous and lymph flows, regulate body temperature, and do lot more. So when the muscles fail to function properly, they indirectly affect the functioning of the related areas of the body. The science of Kinesiology therefore aimed at treating the muscles in order to promote better and faster healing of the body.

Kinesio taping offered a totally new and innovative approach for treating injured muscles, nerves, and internal organs. It allows the body to heal itself naturally by activating its neurological and circulatory system. When the kinesio tape is applied over the injured shoulder or back or knee, the muscles of that particular area and the surrounding area are not restricted. The blood flow and circulation continues normally, enabling faster and better recovery.

Also, the use of kinesio tape does not result in any sort of swelling, pain, and irritation. One is able to continue with the normal activities even when wearing this tape. Kinesio tape is a non-restrictive tape that allows for a full range of motion. This was something that was not possible in case of conventional taping methods.

Currently, Kinesio taping is recognised as the best taping technique across the world. People from all walks of life, as well as renowned athletes are using the kinesio tape to get instant and permanent relief from tired, tensed, and injured muscles and joints. Acupuncturists, chiropractors, orthopedists, and other medical professionals are using the kinesio taping technique for edema, pain management, and preventive maintenance too.
