Compared to the language symbol system of social convention, toy is much more handy "language" to baby. Toy is like a book without words, or a open "textbook", It leaves learner a large self-construction, imagination space and stimulates the baby's express desire and create baby a suitable language environment for free expression.

Children develop their oral language in the process playing with toys. Exchange baby toys and play methods to get language in depicting progress. Such as "can I play with your car?" "Can I join in the blocks game with you?" "Can I use my pig for your duck?" "Yes." "Good." "Play with me ". From dialogues between two babies we can be seen how they use polite languages appropriately.

In the process of contact with toys baby will have a lot of "to himself" phenomenon. The generation of the "to himself" has non negligible effect on the baby language development. My daughter is playing the "doll house" and she will pick up a doll, put it on a small stool, smile and say to her doll lightly while dressing up as I do every morning. Stretch legs, to raise their hands, put on the clothes one way ...
... or another, in the process not only her dialogue with the doll is reasonable and logical, also her wearing clothes for the doll very carefully. When saying to themselves, children pretend the voice, intonation and actions of mothers, and they think it is mums saying instead of themselves. Most important of all, this pretend displaying game fully practices baby's ability in oral expression without worry about whether she put it right, or need to correct.

Toys also promote the construction of baby written language. For example, in playing "cat fishing", toys marked with the "bait", "rod" can all let children have a preliminary understanding of the meaning of words. Toys like alphabet, counting toys can directly exercise baby's comprehension of written word.

In the process of playing a variety of toys, children have specific perception and action, use vivid, concrete language and creatively transform language, and finally develop a language-mediated construct of cognition and understanding of the real world.

Therefore, it is important for parents to guide baby to play with toys in proper ways to train baby's language skills. In the playing process, try to match the environment to input them a lot more words, to improve children's language intelligence and develop their gift for language as far as possible.
