Duck North Carolina is a town in the famous Outer Banks of North Carolina and named for the ducks and other waterfowl that populate it. They can take strolls up and down the beach or join the windsurfers if the ocean proves to be a bit too rough for a swim. They can also wander around the woods of the sanctuary, and if they’re birders this vacation will be even more special, given the profusion of waterfowl and other birds that either visit the place seasonally or live there year round. If their inn rents bicycles they can range even farther afield and they might even catch a glimpse of a herd of the wild horses that live in the banks and if they’re very stealthy, can come close enough to take a good photograph or two without spooking them.

In the evening, tired but happy, the couple can return to their inn and have a great seafood dinner, maybe of oysters or shrimp, or the catch of the day in the window-walled restaurant with a good white wine. If it’s warm enough they might have dinner outside, surrounded by the calls of crickets, owls and tiny frogs.
