Top 2012 Bridal Trends From Ny Bridal Fashion Week

Renowned bridal designer Vera Wang has set more trends than most. With dresses designed for the likes of Uma Thurman, Kate Hudson and not one but three gowns for Kim Kardashian, she remains the most in demand designer for celebrity royalty. With her Fall 2012 show Wang is responsible for an eyecatching new trend. It is remarkably rare for a single designer to create a trend all on their own, but Wang certainly has. The colour that we associate most with weddings, namely white, was completely absent from her runway shows for 2012. Rather, she created quite a stir with breathtaking pitch black colours. She lightened things up with delicate nudes and dusty rose fabrics.
Laser cut fabrics were used across the runways for 2012. Fine materials such as chiffon and tulle were laser cut into intricate patterns and floral designs as a 2012 alternative to lace. The trend was seen on wedding dresses, veils and bridesmaid gowns.
After the spectacular royal wedding in the UK this year, the wedding fashion world is still under the spell of the Kate Middleton Effect. Kates stunning gown, created by Sarah Burton for renowned fashion ...
... house Alexander McQueen, sees a growing trend for sleeved dresses next year as well as vintage lace fabrics. The sleeved wedding dress was spotted all over the catwalks at every major fashion house. The favourite length was the three quarter length, but delicate capped sleeves also made star turns on the catwalks.
If the hot new trend for black is not your thing, we spotted lots of alternative colour trends. Besides the trend for black, classic whites filled the catwalks like never before. While this past year was the year of demure and earthy shades like gold, beige and nude, in 2012 classic white and ivory become the new bridal palette. If white is too traditional for your liking, then Vera Wang and Monica Lhuillier did some amazing gowns in sandy nudes and dusty rose hues.
Without a doubt the standout new trend for next year was for sheer and translucent fabrics. This delicate new trend saw models floating on air in truly ethereal dresses of floaty fabrics like organza and tulle. Sheer fabrics are now a major trend for fashion 2012 as a whole, not just for bridalwear. Full skirts are in, but are not going to be made from weightier fabrics. Instead, full skirts will consist of many layers of wispy fabrics, built up layer by layer.
