For our houses, the most common component is lightening. We cannot imagine an evening or night when light is not there in our houses. All of us spend most of our evenings in our houses so lighting is very important for all of us. By choosing the proper light sources and the good installation the atmosphere of our house can change. ... know how the fluorescent lights work. To understand the working of the fluorescent lights, a little knowledge about light has to be there. Light is a kind of energy which is released by an atom. The light is made of many tiny packets which have energy and momentums both are these packets are similar to particles. These particles are called light photons and are the basic components of lighting. These atoms get energy by any means for example gets heated up and then electrons start moving. These electrons release extra energy as photons.

The position of the electron decides how much energy is released and thus decides what will be wavelength of the light. While lighting, the different types of light colors are seen which actually depends on the kind of the light photons released by different atoms. The basic way of working is same for all types of lighting but the difference between the various sources of light depends on how the atoms are excited. In case of light bulb, atoms get excited by the heat, chemical reaction is used for the light stick but in case of fluorescent lights the mechanism is a different one from any of these and a more complicated one.
