Welcoming the bride is the first ritual where the groom waits for the bride outside the church. He sends a car or a carriage to pick her and the bridesmaid to the venue of the wedding. On her arrival, the best man of the wedding, who is usually a groom’s friend or relative, welcomes the bride with a bouquet of flowers.
After receiving the flowers, the bride comes to the groom and they walk side by side inside the church. The bridesmaids follow the couple to the altar where the priest is waiting. The family members of the bride and the groom are already seated on the front rows. Other relatives and friends are seated after them. On reaching near the priest, the couple is welcomed by the priest.
Then they begin the wedding mass. The priest reads passages from the Bible, the holy book of Christians. Also in between, hymns are sung by the family members and guests presents inside the church. After the reading of bible is completed, the priest begins the homily and tells the couple the importance and responsibilities of marriage.
The couple, bride and groom, confirms their choice to the priest and after exchange of rings, the priest declares them man and wife.
The Christian Matrimony ends with the couple receiving blessings from the priests and the family members. Friends and guests congratulate the couple and wish them best for their married life. The couple comes out of the church arm in arm.
In the evening, a grand reception party is thrown with many more guests joining the celebrations. The couple cuts the wedding cake and shares a slice with each other. Dance, songs and good food marks the end of Christian matrimony.
