All About Wine From The Mediterranean To Australia
Origins of the popular drink
There's a Latin phrase that goes "in vino, veritas," or "in wine, the truth." As everyone knows, Latin is a language that is no longer that widely used. This only emphasises precisely how old the practice of consuming wine has been. It's an activity that was done by so many ancient civilizations including the Ancient Romans, Greeks, and Egyptians.
Although no one knows where wine truly came from, research shows that it dates back more than 8,000 years. You can only imagine how many civilizations have contributed to the process of wine making.
Wine today
Today, much like the past 8,000 years, wine is a drink enjoyed by millions all over the world. The only difference being that it's defined not only as a drink, but as the following things as well:
1. Wine as a healthy drink - It is said that drinking wine regularly is good for the heart and brings about lower cholesterol. You have to remember, though, that wine is an alcoholic beverage too. So it must be consumed in moderation.
2. Wine as an aphrodisiac - This is an idea that's been argued about time and ...
... again. Many report that when spiced just right, wine encourages emotions of love and lust. There are others that say it may possibly just be the alcohol content. Whether it's true or not, you've got to admit that wine is the most romantic of all drinks.
3. Wine as an component in great cuisine - Wine is not just a drink; it's used all over the place! There are plenty of recipes that now require a splash or sometimes even a whole bottle of white or red wine.
4. Wine as a business - With all the different purposes a lot of people for wine, its production is really a worthwhile business investment.
All things considered, it's no wonder that wine is becoming almost a commodity in our society. Demands have been high from the start, and there's no ending the growth of it. Australia is part of this rich history! Margaret River wineries were set up in the 1960s. Winemakers figured out that the consistent weather near the coast was similar to that of the Mediterranean, so they took a chance.
Today, the hard work of the first winemakers who took a chance have bore fruit. The wineries produce a great deal of premium quality and first class wines that are exported to the world. Margaret River wineries produce beautiful white wines such as Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Semillion. Winemakers in the region also make a beautiful Cabernet Sauvignon of the red wine variety, among others. Buying wine online in Australia is easy because most wineries can be found on the net.
