Since polyurethane is an elastomeric material it is ideal in applications involving polyurethane casting and polyurethane molding . Polyurethane is known to possess excellent fatigue, load-bearing and environmental resistance properties. So if your products need to face high-impact operations or intense load bearing applications or harsh environments, be sure to use polyurethane for them. Because polyurethane is available in a very broad hardness range (eraser-soft to bowling-ball-hard), it makes sense to replace rubber, plastic and metal with this ultimate in abrasion resistance and physical properties to get products made from polyurethane molding and polyurethane casting .
Especially when parts of heavy duty plant or other machinery are made out of polyurethane casting , then maintenance costs are reduced significantly over a period of time. Many applications using polyurethane moulding parts like rollers, sleeve bearings, wear plates, ...
... sprockets etc instead of metal ones have found a lowering of down time caused by need to replace worn out parts. Products made out of polyurethane molding have a higher load-bearing capacity than any conventional rubber. This characteristic makes it an ideal material for load wheels, heavy duty couplings, metal-forming pads, shock pads, expansion joints and machine mounts. These products depend on its high tensile strength, the maximum force a material can withstand without tearing, as well as excellent elongation and dimensional stability.
Polyurethane casting is a resin casting production process used for casting components made from polyurethane materials. The process uses temporary polymer molds that are produced from a master pattern or part. This type of casting is a popular process used for the rapid prototyping of components, especially in cases where the production material is not suitable for rapid prototyping. This prototyping process creates urethane parts with size, form, as well as properties similar to the production parts.
Polyurethane reaction injection molding has several advantages over using natural materials such as metal or rubber for molding due to its superior physical properties. Since polyurethane is non-conductive, it will not spark during the molding and tooling process. Oil resistance, ozone resistance and radiation resistance of polyurethane ensure that it can be processed into very thin items and have much thicker sections without a curing gradient.
