Shifting Application Running On A Relational Database To The Cloud
The ability to implement applications across numerous servers is a unique facility, which is why the cloud computing technology has created buzz in the market. It has caught the eye of organizations which are finding it hard to manage their businesses and integrating them once they have been diversified. The relational database model offers a few standardized applications. In comparison to in-memory cloud based database model, the relational database appears a little out of sorts. It offers only fraction of the facilities that are available through cloud models.
The open source applications are more adept to the market conditions and thus have become a feasible choice for most organizations. The Relational database models rarely used the open source applications. However, with the advent of new cloud computing models like Windows Azure and other Google applications based on it, such open source applications is always a better choice to go for. The transition of applications from the relational database model to cloud computing model is a viable process. Most grid databases do not support SQL which is why there is a growing ...
... shift towards the applications that are more capable of upholding these facilities. The market prefers the efficient shift to cloud models as because they are capable of supporting most of the software applications that are suited for the critical business operations.
The dynamic schemas can be shared through the cloud computing technology and the compatible application versions would let the employees of a certain organization proceed with their work in a simpler way without facing any delay. Applications hosted on the cloud database supports better algorithm formats and that is the reason why companies are shifting the applications to the cloud format.
However, there are certain challenges while migrating to the cloud from an RDBMS-run application. Firstly, the cloud database model is an Object oriented model, which may not be completely compatible with the traditional relational model. The transition of applications that are currently running on the more contemporary and prevalent relational data base to a more efficient and time reducing dynamic cloud DB is dependent upon the open source applications and projects that are going to be developed in coming years. This concept is relatively new and it is a challenge to shift online relational databases to the cloud without affecting business. However, there are certain organizations which have already taken the initiative and have been successful to a large extent.
