Editorial: Techtextil—a Trade Fair for Technical Textiles and Nonwovens
For the first time, Techtextil was staged on the same days and at the same venue as Avantex1, an international forum for innovative apparel textiles. This arrangement provided three main benefits. * First, visitors and exhibitors at one event were able to communicate and conduct business with visitors and exhibitors at the other. * Second, Avantex—the smaller of the two exhibitions—was able to benefit from Techtextil's size and structure. * Third, visitors were able to attend both events at the same place and over the same three-day period.
The Techtextil Innovation Prizes are designed to draw the industry's attention to new ideas and advances in the field of high-tech textiles. In particular, they serve to: * communicate new developments between researchers, companies in the industry and users; * provide opportunities for new networks to be established; and * open up new and promising markets for the textile sector.

The prizes fell into three categories: * new material developments, which had one winner; * new areas of application, which had four winners; and * new products, which had one winner.
