Flood has devastated lots of lives for 2011. From international reports like that of Japan’s tsunami, even the most powerful country of U.S. is not spared. Although this wasn't the first time water sank cities and towns. But still, the sight and experience is horrifying and unforgettable for those who have witness and are victims of great floods. In fact, the raging water has destroyed many lives and properties.

Truly, water is a friend to men. But, it can also be their worst enemy. And to prove how strong water can be, here are the three worst floods this 2011.

1. Black River floods
On the month of April, almost 1000 people evacuated the area in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. The levee failed to hold back the rising water from the Black River. The days of continuous rain caused the flood. It crept into farms, backyards, houses, and business centers in the area. Sirens and emergency warnings were soon issued and people were forced to leave their homes for safety. Other left their homes immediately while others managed to grab some of their stuff before leaving. Evacuated residents were left to stay in Black River ...

Damages:
Homes, cars, and farms were all washed up.
Huge and wide deposits of sand and mud in the area.
Farmers’ loss on their livelihood.

2. Hurricane Irene floods
Hurricane Irene churned up many states in U.S. Seawater began to rise from creeks and rivers filling up the streets. The water covered areas in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and North Carolina. People also were forced to evacuate their homes as the water may cause imminent danger.

Damages:
No electricity for days.
Homes and other properties were destroyed.
Areas became swamp and lots of rubbish to clean.
Some rivers are filled with too much water depicting possible danger.
Insured damages costing billions of dollars.

3. Mississippi River floods
Mississippi river made the worst flood for 2011. Two storms and snow-melt in spring stored lots of water in Mississippi River watershed. This is the reason why it swell and gave way, flooding Mississippi and nearby states like Illinois, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Louisiana. Morganza Spillway was opened for the first time in 37 years. It was necessary to save Baton Rouge and New Orleans. Thousands of people were needed to evacuate as soon as possible.

Damages:
The opening of Morganza spillway flooded more than 4000 square miles of rural Louisiana.
There are number of deaths reported.
Homes, cars, and house contents were destroyed and scattered.
Most areas in the said states were soaked up in water
Insurance damage cost hundreds of millions in every state. Costing billions of dollars in total.
