Even people who concede that they may need to buy a carrying case for their laptop will probably try to appease their guilt over the major purchase in the first place by going for a warehouse priced case, but this is really not the best way to go. Durable outside protection in the form of waterproofing, along with a lining that has air pockets or Styrofoam can really save you a lot of grief.
Extra space. If you are carrying your laptop around, odds are it isn't the only thing going with you. A good case will have some extra spaces for USB wires, pens, pencils, maybe even paper. Look for a case that makes one bag possible for everything you need!
