How To Get The Provencal Look In Your Home
How to get the Provencal Look In Your Home
The Provencal look is all inspired by the local landscape in France. The colours, textures and patterns are all taken from the beautiful country side.
To get the Provencal look in your home is all about getting the right colour scheme and using accessories including fabrics with the country Provencal feel. The colours are yellow, green, purples and golds. Think about the French countryside and all the colours involved.
Furniture should be as much natural wood pieces as you can find. Seating should be soft and comfortable, the overstuffed look with flower patterns. Fresh flowers should be used to garnish tables and sideboards. Floors should be either ceramic tiles or wood but to finish them off you need to have natural wool rugs.
The most important room in the house is the kitchen and the same is said for the French Provencal look. The kitchen walls in a traditional French home are often made from brick or stone. Some are glazed in colours of light green, pale blue or if you want a more natural look can be left without colour. Dry herbs should be filling ...
... the room with their smell. Iron is an important part of this look, especially in the kitchen, you can have all sorts of accessories and even the odd pieces of furniture will complete the look.
Accessories in the kitchen are brightly coloured handmade and hand painted pieces. From plates to storage pots, all brightly hand painted give off the Provencal look. Table linen such as table clothes should have flowery Provencal motifs on. You can get bread baskets to match which when the table is made up looks the part.
The whole look is really based on bringing the outside in. If you have been to Provencal in early spring/summer the look and colours of the scenery is what this look is all about. Down at the beach there will be drift wood which local artists will be collecting to make their beautiful home accessories. Wicker is another big part of this look. You can get baskets, candles and even table lamps made from wicker.
To get the real feel for this look you really need to visit Provence or look at some images online. The image of fresh fields of lavender contrasted next to the cobblestone streets with the smell of fresh flowers. The look is charming, romantic, and elegant mixed up with earthy elements and not forgetting very comfy and casual.
Boutique Provencale have a beautiful range of French Pottery and Dishes Pottery which will give any home that French country style look.
