CPR is basically done in all age group of people but we have to perform little bit different steps while performing CPR on infants, child’s and on young age people. CPR steps for children are quite similar to those of CPR steps for adults. But before moving onto the CPR steps for children, you first need to know when your child actually needs CPR treatment.

CPR steps for children are to be achieved when a child is not breathing and his pulse rate is very low or cannot be felt, and is most operative when performed as early as possible. A missing pulse indicates that the heart is not pumping blood to the entire body. Death or perpetual brain damage can occur in less than eight minutes if oxygen does not reach the major body parts. Check for the next to decide whether CPR is necessary or not.

Steps performed over child
Put your child on a stable surface on its back.
Open the child's mouth, i.e. the airway. Keep your palm on the child's brow to gently tilt it backwards and lift its chin.

Pinch close the child's nose for breathing air into the child ...
... until you see the chest rise. Cover the child's mouth with yours completely while blowing air so that the air does not escape. This is called rescue living. Wait for a second and give a second breath.

Then comes chest compressions, for restoring the heartbeat. Pressing on the chest helps mingle blood and maintain blood flow to major organs. So keep a check on that regularly. Use only two or three fingers in case of babies and give mild compressions. For a child, place the heel of your hand in the centre of the chest just below the nipples for giving chest compressions. Give 30 chest densities at the rate of 100 per minute.
Press down approximately one-third the depth of the chest.
Give two rescue breaths again shadowed by cycles of 30 chest compressions.

Continue the process until babies/child's breathing is resumed.
These are CPR steps for babies, children as well as infant CPR steps that can securely be used in crises to restore life. It is, however, advised to take CPR classes that are conducted regularly by many health organizations and have some training for providing CPR Online Classes to various age groups. The latest CPR rules were given in 2005 by the American Heart Association. The latest updates of 2011 CPR steps focuses on getting more and more people absorbed in steps to perform CPR and making the licensing norms stricter. Hope you are now well armed with CPR steps for children to get in action when spare strikes, and be a life-saver.
