Is Starting A Healthcare Staffing Agency Expensive?
I have seen companies starting a staffing agency with as little as $500 and I have seen staffing agencies start with as much as $250.000.
What I have found is the difference between these two types of startups is, each has several key variables that when analyzed you will see how you can gauge and answer the question.
Is starting a healthcare staffing agency expensive?
Person A: Startup as low as $500
The person who started a staffing agency is likely working in the field they are contracting with. They probably started out knowing somebody. They probably secured a contract easily and started working for a facility and quickly grabbed there legal documents just to fulfill the needs of a facility.
This person probably began to make money and used the same money to begin a marketing campaign. They probably did not start-out with an office and worked mainly from there cell phone. Eventually they did get a staffing office, but did not need one at the beginning.
Person A did not have a website nor did they have any fancy computer software or tracking system.
Person B: Startup ...
... as much as $250.000
This person or persons, began as a full fledge corporation. They invested in an office, software and probably hired a staff to handle marketing and hired a secretary.
This person may have spent money on a franchise and has really expensive marketing material. This person wants to move into different niches and may or may not have experience. They are willing to pay for someone who has the experience willing to help grow the business.
They have deep pockets and have spent on initial startup more money than they probably had to.
So, it can be expensive to start a staffing agency, it really depends on you. If you are willing to do more work, then you need less money to begin your company. If you do have lots of money, then you can hire people to do more of the work you probably don't want to do.
I have found that somewhere in the middle is a really good place to be. My first staffing agency was begun with less than $2000. I quickly eventually sold that staffing agency, but the fact remains, I was able to start it with less than $2000. The way I was able to avoid paying an employee was I worked the shifts initially. I also was the marketing director, operator and website designer. I basically did it all and I really believe this is a good way to slowly start your own medical staffing agency.
