There are many aspects that you like about your car. But it can happen that having more of one aspect of your car means you have less of something else which you like as well. Let me give an example to illustrate this. If your car has springs that can travel a long way then you can have a very soft suspension. When your car hits a bump your car will not bob quickly up and down but instead will slowly go in one direction and then slowly go in the other and dissipate the energy slowly so that you do not feel any jerks. You will find the suspension amazingly soft and comfortable.

But if your car’s springs are to be allowed a long distance to travel the car has to be mounted high. After all, the car cannot lower than the ground level. And a high suspension means a high center of gravity and therefore the car will be less stable while taking sharp turns. So the car manufacturers look to arrive at a compromise solution where you have a soft suspension and a good amount of stability at the same time.

But you may not be so concerned about the softness of the suspension and may prefer to have even more stability because ...
... you like to enjoy the performance of your high performance car. In that case you can opt for lowering springs to give your car more stability. These are a part of lowering kits which include other components required for the transition besides the springs.

Though a soft suspension is great it is useful only when the road is not good and you could have a bumpy ride if the suspension is not soft. But bad roads are rare. On the other hand higher stability is useful all the while and so many people opt for switching to lowering springs. You can make your car even more stable at high speeds by adding other components such as car spoilers. A modified personalized car is more fun to drive.
