Unusual and talented, are you? Maybe that one thing that seemed weird to everyone else could earn you some cash. For example, can you call ducks? Then look no further because you could potentially earn a scholarship to college. Imagine, just for being able to call ducks!

The Chick and Sophie Major Memorial Duck Calling Contest is offered to high school seniors who have graduated high school to come out and earn money. The money they earn can be used as a scholarship for any educational field. The requirements are that you are at least a high school senior in the United States. You are given 90 seconds to use the calls feed, hail, comeback, and mating. The prize amounts include Grand at $2,000 to 3rd runner-up at $500$.

Does that contest sound like an easy shoe in for you? Then go to Stuttgart Arkansas Commerce of Chamber to register yourself. Each year it is held in Arkansas in late November.
The colleges that past recipients attend vary from Wisconsin to Tennessee. For example, the scholarship can be used at colleges of bigger size such as Iowa and Wisconsin University or smaller schools such as Southwest ...
... Tennessee Community College.

It is important that after you graduate high school that you practice for this competition. Though what you do is unique, others have the same potential as you to win. Be sure to go out to local or national competitions over your summer to ensure that your practice will pay off in the end. Also, do not rely on the Chick and Sophie Major Memorial Duck Calling Contest to give you money for a college. As for any college or scholarship planning, you should have a backup in case all else fails.

All in all, while the kids in high school thought being able to call down birds was “no big deal”, it could possibly earn you a scholarship to the college of your dreams.

There are also other unusual scholarships such as wearing duct tape to the school prom or making a milk mustache. These companies will get lots of publicity so they use innovative marketing ideas which also benefit an upcoming college student. I think that is very creative. There are also plenty of traditional scholarships based on academic merit, specific majors and those with leadership qualities. Apply to a wide range of grant and scholarship opportunities since you may be eligible for more than one.
